Photosynthesis – Light & Calvin Cycle
Overview
- Photosynthesis: converts light energy into chemical energy
- Location: chloroplasts in plant cells
- Equation: 6CO₂ + 6H₂O → C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂
Stages
- Light reactions: happen in thylakoids and make ATP + NADPH
- Calvin cycle: happens in the stroma and fixes CO₂ into glucose
Limiting factors
- Light intensity: more light is faster, up to a point
- Optimum temperature: roughly 25–35 °C
